Caring For Your Curls.

Let’s talk hair for a second. Specifically, curly hair.

When it comes to my curls, I’m VERY particular. Like, I don’t just use anything in my hair to keep my curls intact. It needs special care. It needs the RIGHT kind of products. That’s why I have teamed up with John Frieda® Canada for this post.

You already know this if you have naturally curly hair. Growing up with curly hair was a real pain. As a kid, I never appreciated it. I always wished for straight hair. It was a nightmare trying to tame those curls. I used to legit take an iron to my hair. No really, like a clothes iron. LOL.

Who else did this? OWN UP!!

Anyway, once flat irons became more affordable, I convinced my parents to get me one. Game changer.

However, still a pain in the ass, because straightening my hair took a minimum of 4 hours. I’m not even making this up. I was literally in the bathroom for what seemed like, forever. This wasn’t working.

This was ALSO ruining my curls and my hair in general. I was getting major split ends, breakage, and extreme dryness.

After years of flat-ironing, I even tried Keratin, which is a smoothing/straightening procedure to keep your hair straight for months.

And no, that did not work for me.

I was finally tired of the dry/brittle hair and decided I needed to accept my curly hair. This meant lots of home remedies to restore my hair and investing in good products.

It was time.

Now, years later, I love my curls. They’re ME, and I wouldn’t change it for anything else. However, this took work on my end and a lot of caring for my neglected curls.

My favourite is the John Frieda® Frizz Ease® Dream Curls® shampoo and conditioner. You guys already know how much I love John Frieda® products. They’ve never done me wrong. It’s what I’ve been using since I was a teenager. For me, this works! My curls love this brand. I’ve tried and tested many, many brands, and I always come back to John Frieda®. The great thing is, they come out with new collections all the time, so you can switch it up!

I also love using a lot of masks in my hair. Natural hair masks really helped bring my hair back to life. My favourite is ½ an avocado and 2 egg yolks. Mix these bad boys together and you have the PERFECT, natural hair mask. You can leave this on your hair for as long as you wish, because it’s natural. I like to do a minimum of 30 mins. This is so hydrating for your hair.

Coconut oil is another favourite of mine. It brought back the shine in my hair and gave me healthy hair again! All you need to do is warm up some organic, cold pressed, virgin coconut oil in a bowl. (Make sure you don’t put this in the microwave. Heat over a stove top.) Start at your ends and work your way up to your scalp. Leave this treatment in for as long as you want. The longer, the better. I like to leave it in for about 1-2 hours. I usually put this in on Saturday mornings and then get to all my chores. By the time I’m done cleaning, organizing, laundry, emails, etc., it’s about 2 hours. Wash it out with a curl shampoo and conditioner and you’re good to go.

I’ve noticed my curls have been very soft and most importantly, frizz free. Curly hair is more prone to frizz, which is why you need a shampoo and conditioner that properly smooths and aligns your hair. Dream Curls Shampoo and Conditioner infuse each hair strand with moisture and shine, reducing frizz before you even begin to style. After I get out of the shower, I usually put in a couple drops of coconut oil, and then add my favourite curl cream, Frizz Ease Dream Curls Unwind Calm Cream. This Calm Cream is LEGIT the best thing ever. It’s what gives my curls, life. I never travel without this curl cream.

I’m also trying out the Frizz Ease Curl Reviver Mousse. It’s a very lightweight mousse that doesn’t harden your hair. It keeps your curls soft and intact. Frizz-free of course!

Okay, what kind of natural hair masks are you guys using? Home remedies are the best, so SHARE!!

On another note, let’s talk about this outfit. Many of you loved the post on fall fashion, and this outfit is very much fall! I love pairing an oversized sweater with some ripped jeans. If you’re looking for an effortless fall look, this is your go-to. Everyone needs an oversized black sweater, (ON SALE FOR $10.99!) and a pair of really good ripped jeans in their closet. If you want to dress this up, throw on a pair of cute pumps or my personal favourite, some mules.

Great review. The frizz ease line never did much for my hair. Glad it works for you though!

I do love your hair, but I wouldn't call it curly, it's wavy.
Also, I'm looking for some products now (for curly hair) and anti-frizz products so I found this helpful :) thanks!

Then I'd LOVE to see it naturally. Because I have the same situation (my mom was surprised when she saw me with my natural hair haha)
