A Waking Dream in Mexico - Cirque du Soleil's, "LUZIA"

Can I start off by saying, you all NEED to go watch this amazing Cirque show, LUZIA?!?!

Like, am I actually allowed to just throw that out there, now?

I'm sure by the end of this blog post, you'll all be running to get tickets to the show. Just saying.

So, I was invited to preview the show last week, and if you were following on Snapchat, I'm sure you don't need ANY convincing at all, because my snaps kinda said it all. The entire experience (not just the show) was...incredible!

Snapchat - kim-marquis.

Here's a quick blurb on the show:

LUZIA is a combination of the words "luz" ("light" in Spanish) and "lluvia" ("rain" in Spanish); two elements at the core of the show. Water was also integrated into the show for the first time. To represent Mexico, the team created a dream woven from memories, experiences and encounters, laden with Mexican culture, history and mythology. The audience was brought on a journey through a series of fragments based on themes of speed, monumentality, rain, animals and fantasy.

Basically, if you've never been to Mexico, get excited, because you're about to be transported into the vibrant culture. The show is a mix of colours and breathtaking visuals. The show really wakes up your senses. It makes you feel alive and you leave feeling fully satisfied. I was absolutely blown away by the talent on stage by such young performers. (Yes, I googled all of them after, and they are young!)

It's incredible and inspiring to see how passionate these actors and dancers really are. They really come to that stage, bringing you everything they have; their whole heart and soul to that performance. Guys, I was jaw dropped pretty much that entire show.

Aside from the show, I encourage you guys to enjoy the entire experience by going to see it, VIP style. Because, hellooo fish tacos & champagne...need I say more?

Okay, I will.

We entered the beautiful tent and were right away taken into a dream. Okay, I know that sounds cheesy AF, but the tents were decorated in the most fascinating way, with colourful drapery, beautiful cushion seating, a gorgeous girl with a champagne skirt on. Yes, you literally take a glass of champs right off her "skirt". Cute right? They also have passed hors d'oeuvres that included: coconut chicken empanadas, anchovie crostinis, orange & kale salad with a cilantro dressing, Mexican-style potatoes with a delicious sauce, a seafood platter with octopus, all kinds of fish, and green olives, and of course, my personal favourite, fish taco stations. Can I also add that the fish taco servers were really cute boys? (See below).

The bar was stocked with champs, red and white wine, and beer.

Oh, and during intermission, they served churros with chocolate sauce dripped over it. I'm drooling...

Aside from the unlimited food and drinks, you also get premium seating, private washrooms, a terrace, and more.

Trust me when I say, you'll want to do this the VIP way.

Okay, back to the show.

It's starts off with a parachuter that falls from an airplane and lands into this magical journey between fantasy and reality. The first scene captivates your attention right away with a beautiful visual of a butterfly woman and a giant metallic horse, run by men. From there, the entire show blows you away with incredible acrobatic performances, contortionists, and more. (I'm not going to give away everything.)

The thing that really blew me away, was the stage and set. I'm a theatre production student at heart, so I was really in awe of the rotating stage, the water that came from the ceiling to enhance the performances, and the lighting that was just perfectly projected. Not only do we have to knowledge the talented stage performers, but HUGE respect goes out to the folks that we don't see on stage. The make-up effects, the sound & lighting team, the set & props designers, and SO MANY MORE who were involved.

Okay, have I successfully convinced you guys yet?

I have seen a few Cirque shows in my lifetime, and I really do have to say that LUZIA was by far, my favourite.

You need to get your tickets ASAP as this show will sell out, and I don't want you guys to miss this opportunity. The show runs till October 16th. Not going to lie, I'm probably going to go watch this again...

Check out the sneak peek video below.

Talk soon.

Xx, kim

This post was NOT sponsored, however, BIG thanks to the Holmes PR team for the VIP experience.
